Summary of Outcomes

 

The chart below represents career related curriculum outcomes that have been identified in specific high school courses in each of the four Atlantic Provinces. Through these curricula, students continuously engage in learning about themselves and their skills, how to be prepared to enter the labour market, the importance of labour market information and the role this information can have in informing their career decisions.

 

Personal Development Career Planning 9/10    

  • NB 1 Students will develop a positive self-concept and the skills necessary to interact effectively with others

Cooperative Education 120

  • NB 4 Recognize essential skills required for success in the workplace

  • NS 4 Learners will reflect upon the development of workplace readiness skills.

 

Career Development 11

  • NS 5 Learners will clarify and define their life and work goals through further analysis of self-assessment data.
  • NS 6 Learners will independently develop a long-term plan by evaluating the relevance of their career and life decisions by using additional career information.
  • NS 7 Learners will apply the knowledge and skills needed to seek and obtain career-related work.
  • NS 8 Learners will apply the knowledge and skills needed to manage the transition to a range of post-secondary destinations.

 

Co-operative Education (10-12)

  • NS 9 Learners will evaluate potential education options and career pathways
  • NS 10 Learners will evaluate personal interests, attributes and skills in relation to potential education and career goals.

Career Exploration and Opportunities CEO401

  • PEI 1 (Outcome EXP1) Learners are expected to discuss the significance and complexity of career development.
  • PEI 2 (Outcome EXP2) Learners are expected to explore their career development through self-discovery.
  • PEI 3 (Outcome EXP4) Learners are expected to examine labour market information to support their career development.
  • PEI 4 (Outcome BLD2) Learners are expected to explore strategies used to secure, create, and maintain employment.
  • PEI 5 (Outcome EXP5) Learners are expected to develop multiple potential high school pathways that reflect provincial graduation requirements, self-discovery, labour market opportunities, and post-secondary education, work, and/or community involvement.
