Resources to Support NB Students and Teachers

The resources identified below reflect information and community supports beneficial to individuals entering the labour market. 

Brilliant Labs is a not-for-profit, hands-on technology and experiential learning platform based in Atlantic Canada.  Brilliant Labs can support teachers and students with the integration of creativity, innovation, coding, and an entrepreneurial spirit within classrooms and educational curricula. Through these supports and events delivered in NB schools they can introduce new skills as well as help students identify and develop their skills as they plan for their future.

Career Connected Learning is New Brunswick's career education strategy. This strategy places emphasis on the accessibility of career education with it beginning early and across curriculum. It integrates social-emotional learning, global competencies, experiential learning, real-life career planning and access to labour market information through a holistic lens that engages students in career education in an experiential approach. Are You Hopeful About Your Future is an LMI video produced in NB for NB students to raise awareness of the need to investigate and use LMI when exploring career options. 

myBlueprint is an online, comprehensive education and career/life planning tool. It helps students make informed decisions about their future. This site features information and resources that are important for students and all those that work with them. Instructions on how to set up accounts can be found using this link. As part of the Future Ready Learning K-12 strategy, teachers are supported with professional development to help them effectively implement the myBlueprint platform with their students. 

NBJobs.ca offers a Career Education Toolkit that consists of career development resources that can be used by students, educators or job seekers during the career exploration and planning process. When you explore this site, you will be able to access valuable information related to:

NBjobs.ca is a valuable resource for accessing information on specific occupation profiles and labour market trends. These can benefit students in learning specific details about careers and job opportunities.

Teachers in NB are supported by NBJobs.ca with resources and information to introduce students to the importance of using LMI to help them explore career options. This LMI Presentation in Schools is an example of the type of resource that teachers can access when supporting their students’ learning. The impact of these presentations are found in the Labour Market Information (LMI) in Schools 2019-2020 Year-End Results. 

Preparing Youth for the Workforce of Tomorrow; Cultivating the Social and Emotional Skills Employers Demand is a resource that can help teachers support students in defining and understanding the relationship between social and emotional competencies and the skills today’s employers seek. 

Information on Education and Training options is available through Working NB. Students can explore information found on this site to prepare them for their transition into post-secondary education, training programs and entry into the Labour Market.  

Skills Canada New Brunswick is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote opportunities in skilled trades and technology to youth across the province. They welcome opportunities to work alongside New Brunswick educators in creating and promoting opportunities for students. These include presentations, workshops, competitions and resources.
